The public is invited to help bring the Spirit of Halloween to Primary Children’s Hospital
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (September 29, 2025) – Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences today announced its 7th Annual Halloween Costume Drive to support Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital. The community is invited to donate new, unused costumes and related items for patients from newborns to teens. Donations are accepted now through October 24.
“Halloween should feel special for every kid,” said Joshua Knotts, Interim President and CEO of Joyce University. “With our community’s support, Primary Children’s can turn hospital hallways into places of fun and imagination.”
Requested items include new, unused costumes and accessories suitable for infants through teens, themed t-shirts and onesies, trick-or-treat buckets, individually packaged candy and small non-food prizes. For patient safety, donors are asked to keep items in their original store packaging, avoid latex items and button batteries and refrain from including personal contact information with gifts. Name-brand items are preferred for durability and distribution to patients is managed by hospital staff.
Community members can also contribute by conveniently shipping items directly from the Amazon Wishlist or by making a monetary donation via PayPal. In-person donations are also welcome at Joyce University, 12257 Business Park Dr, Draper, UT 84020. Full details and links are available on the university’s Halloween donations page.
Last year, the Joyce community delivered more than 1,000 donations, meeting 100 percent of the hospital’s holiday needs. In 2023, the drive provided more than 765 costumes, 200 trick-or-treat buckets, 150 room décor kits, 200 pounds of candy and more than 500 prizes, which is momentum the university aims to build on again this season.
Halloween celebrations at Primary Children’s offer a fun and festive distraction, help kids maintain a sense of normalcy and create positive memories for families during challenging times, benefits highlighted annually by the hospital.
