Joyce University Expands Nursing Education to South Carolina Students

Flexible, hybrid nursing programs now available for South Carolina residents

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – February 12, 2025 – South Carolina residents can now prepare for RN licensure in as few as 20 months. Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences is broadening its hybrid pre- and post-licensure nursing programs to include The Palmetto State.

Since 2022, Joyce University has steadily expanded beyond Utah, now serving students across 12 states, including South Carolina this year. This continued growth reflects the university’s commitment to meeting the increasing demands for skilled nurses throughout South Carolina by providing flexible, career-focused educational pathways.

“Like much of the country, South Carolina faces challenges in healthcare staffing,” said Dr. John Smith-Coppes, President and CEO of Joyce University. “Our goal at Joyce is to not only fill the workforce gap but also to ensure that every graduate is fully prepared to provide exceptional patient care, uphold the highest safety standards, and make a lasting impact in the healthcare industry.”

With this expansion, students in South Carolina can access a range of pre-licensure programs, such as the 20-month Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), the 3-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (aBSN). Joyce University offers two post-licensure programs for those looking to advance their nursing careers: the 4-semester online RN to BSN program and the 3-semester online MSN in Leadership program.

“At Joyce University, our programs are built to address the growing critical need for skilled nurses,” said Dr. Kelly McCullough, Dean of Nursing. “By combining online coursework with hands-on labs, simulations, and clinical training in local communities, our hybrid learning model provides students with the flexibility they need while delivering a rigorous, high-quality education that prepares them ready for a fulfilling career.”

Students benefit from a hybrid nursing program design, attending online lectures while gaining hands-on experience at the Joyce Johnson Center of Simulation in Draper, Utah. To foster local connections, clinical training takes place in each student’s state of residence.

Enrollment for South Carolina students is now open, with the next cohort starting in the Summer Semester on May 5th.
