Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences Honors Joyce Johnson as the Institution’s First Associate Professor Emeritus

Salt Lake City, UT – November 1, 2022

Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences honors the tenure and service of Joyce Johnson at the institution’s first annual Emeritus Celebration. As a longstanding member of the Joyce University faculty, Joyce has left an indelible impression on the university’s community and continues to be a source of inspiration for students, faculty, and staff.

The Emeritus honor is a lifelong designation that recognizes the achievements of those with meritorious records. Emeritus appointments are only made to highly honored individuals at the time of retirement from Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences.

“Joyce embodies our values of Integrity, Excellence, Service, Caring, and Learning and has taught hundreds of our students to embody these values by example,” said Joyce University Provost, Dr. John Smith-Coppes. “By honoring her contributions to our University and the nursing profession as a whole, we hope that the title of Associate Professor Emeritus serves as a celebration of her legacy for years to come.”

Serving as a nurse and midwife for more than 35 years, Joyce Johnson has dedicated her career to the field of obstetrics, and contributed to the advancement of the nursing profession as an active member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), and the National Certification Corporation (NCC). During her nearly decade-long tenure at Joyce University, Joyce Johnson served as a lead OB nurse faculty and was honored for her contributions to the institution in 2019, with the naming of the Joyce Johnson Center for Simulation.
