Dr. Rogers teaches and develops courses in the MSN Program Nurse Leadership Track, with Nurse Executive Leader and Nurse Educator concentrations. She also serves as a member of the School of Nursing Curriculum Committee.
Dr. Rogers has been a nurse educator for 20 years, teaching across ADN, BSN, MSN, and DNP levels. She has experience teaching in face-to-face, blended, and online classrooms, including didactic, clinical, and lab settings. Her courses have covered nursing education, research, applied research, evidence-based practice, advanced statistics, and healthcare innovation. She has also served as a Capstone Committee Chair and lead faculty, as well as a DNP Committee Chair and Project Faculty Advisor.
Before becoming a full-time nurse educator, Dr. Rogers specialized in cardiothoracic surgical intensive care nursing. In addition to her nursing career, she is also a veterinarian with over 30 years of experience as a small animal practitioner.
Dr. Rogers contributes to the healthcare and animal welfare communities through her volunteer work with Lab Rescue, providing transports and home checks for dogs in need.
Dr. Rogers values making classroom learning relevant and timely to the healthcare setting. She enjoys engaging students in contextualized, problem-based learning activities that encourage them to generate innovative, evidence-based solutions to improve healthcare outcomes. She also emphasizes peer-to-peer collaboration, guiding students as they build functional teams and apply evidence-based practice to real-world problems.
Dr. Rogers earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Education from Capella University in 2014, where she was recognized as a Graduate of Distinction and completed her dissertation on “The Perceived Value of Certification Among Certified Nurse Educators.” She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, completed in 2005 with a thesis on “Model of Metaconceptual Awareness.” She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University in 1999, graduating Summa Cum Laude. In addition to her nursing education, Dr. Rogers holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, awarded in 1987, and began her academic journey with an Associate of Science from Enterprise State Community College.
Outside of teaching, Dr. Rogers enjoys native permaculture and regenerative landscaping. She also spends time with her partner and their rescue black lab, Lillian Marie (Lily), hiking and exploring nature, and building wildlife habitats on their 2.22 acres.
