Get StartedOTAs make a living by applying therapeutic techniques to improve the lives of others, while enjoying a competitive salary and flexible hours. It’s no wonder that this growing field has been featured in the U.S. News & World Report, “100 Best Jobs of 2021.”
In 2021, top-earners with an OTA degree brought home over $80,210 per year, with a median annual wage of $61,730 per year.
Employment of occupational therapy assistants is projected to grow by 35% from 2019-2029, much faster than the average for all occupations* — and demand is expected to increase even more due to the aging baby boomer population.
College of Health Sciences Accreditation
Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences’ Occupational Therapy Assistant Associate of Science program has been granted programmatic accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Joyce University offers programs leading to professional licensure within the state of Utah. The licensure boards in each state are responsible for establishing the requirements for licensure/certification for their state. Students who intend to return or move to any state other than Utah need to review the professional licensure disclosures pertaining to their program and consult with the state professional licensing board.
New students can enroll at Joyce University three times per year. Learn more about our general and program-specific admissions requirements.
Joyce holds both institutional and programmatic accreditations. Joyce University of Nursing & Health Sciences is institutionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). Review all of our programmatic and institution accreditations.
Joyce University offers nursing programs at ASN, BSN, and MSN degree levels. We also have an Associate of Science in OTA program that can be completed in as little as 20 months. All of our programs are known for their speed and academic rigor.

Hours will vary based on which program and semester you are in. Students are generally on campus 2-3 days per week depending on the semester and should anticipate a 40+ hour per week commitment.
Due to the accelerated nature of our programs, missing much, if any time, may be the equivalent of missing several days in more traditional programs. Our attendance policy is designed to ensure students do not miss critical material needed to pass their licensure tests and are ready to enter the profession confidently. You can review our attendance policy in the University Catalog.
Whether you have to be on campus and how much depends on the program and semester you are in. Some of our Health Sciences programs are entirely online. Some offer blended online and in-person delivery. Some require you to be on campus for hands-on skills training and also contain in-person clinical components. Please fill out the information request form, and one of our Admissions Representatives will reach out to you with details about a particular program you are interested in.
Based on guidelines by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Utah Department of Health, Joyce University has transitioned to virtual classroom instruction with labs and simulations taking place on campus with additional precautions. More information is available in our Covid-19 Response.
