Joyce University Donates 765 Costumes to Primary Children’s Hospital for Halloween

Salt Lake City, UT – October 25, 2023 For the fifth consecutive year, Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences’ students, faculty, and staff helped kids at Primary Children’s Hospital have a special Halloween by donating 765 costumes, 200 trick-or-treat buckets, 150 Halloween room decoration kits, 200 pounds of candy, and 500+ prizes.

“As a team consisting of and supporting nurses and nursing students, we know that quality healthcare includes so much more than just medical care; sometimes it simply and profoundly just includes creating a space for joy,” said Dr. John Smith-Coppes, Joyce University President and CEO.”

The University set up a drop-off station on campus to gather donations from students, faculty, staff, and generous community members. Donations from the university have covered 100 percent of the costumes needed to celebrate the spookiest night of the year since the drive began five years ago.
