Joyce Faculty Honored as 2022’s Healthcare Hero -Utah Business

Honoring Healthcare Heroes

Salt Lake City — Utah Business, in partnership with the Roseman University of Health Sciences, proudly honors those who have made it their mission to improve the state of health in Utah during the annual Healthcare Heroes event. This year, Daniel Wakamatsu, Lead Faculty of International Clinical Programs at Joyce University of Nursing & Health Sciences, has been recognized as a Healthcare Educator.

Throughout his nursing career, Daniel Wakamatsu has found the most meaning in working with programs that improve community health. His extensive contributions include participating in outreach health screenings for migrant families, working with the Veterans Health Administration to expand specialty clinic services in rural Northern California, and leading mass vaccination sites that served over 3,800 people per day during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic with the Salt Lake County Health Department.

In Fall 2021, Daniel initiated the international clinical program at Joyce University, bringing students to locations in Honduras and Guatemala. There, they work alongside local non-governmental organizations to improve community health.
