The direct path MSN enables applicants to apply to the Accelerated BSN program and upon meeting program requirements, can apply for advanced placement into the MSN program. The total combined program length is 8-9 semesters (depending on transfer credits). Designed for MSN-degree seeking nursing students who have no previous nursing experience, this direct entry pathway enables you to move swiftly through our accelerated BSN and MSN programs, becoming eligible for RN licensure in as little as 20 months, and eligible for certification in Executive Nursing Leadership or Nurse Education in as few as 3 years.
Enrollment in the Direct Path MSN enables aBSN participants to replace two BSN courses with MSN courses, for advanced placement into the MSN program. For applicants changing careers to nursing and seeking an MSN, Direct Path MSN is our fastest and most cost effective pathway to RN licensure and MSN completion.
The accelerated BSN curriculum reflects the AACN essentials for professional nursing and consists of general education and core nursing courses that help students learn the foundations of nursing at a baccalaureate level. Coursework includes asynchronous online lectures, on-ground labs and simulations, and a direct-patient clinical experience.
All MSN coursework is completed asynchronously online. Students elect a concentration in either Nursing Education or Executive Nursing Leadership and will complete practicum experience hours in their area of specialization under the supervision of an expert preceptor, the completion of which qualifies graduates to sit for the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) certification.
During the accelerated BSN portion of the curriculum, students will engage in on-ground labs and simulations designed to enhance your practical skills by putting your classroom knowledge to practice. Local and out-of-state students will attend the Joyce University campus in Draper, Utah, to complete skills lab and simulation hours during the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semesters of the BSN program. Students will complete clinical hours as part of their BSN requirements in their state of residence.
During the MSN portion of the curriculum, students will complete didactic coursework exclusively online in their chosen concentration. Students will work closely with faculty to develop an immersive, individualized capstone project in their area of concentration which will be implemented through practice experience under the direction of an expert preceptor.
