At Joyce University, the Accelerated BSN (aBSN) is a fast-track bachelor’s degree designed for career-changers with a prior non-nursing BA/BS degree. You’ll complete a pre-licensure, hybrid nursing program featuring online nursing coursework paired with on-campus labs, high-fidelity simulation, and direct-care clinical rotations, so you can become an RN faster without prior nursing experience.
Many students transfer up to 46 credits from their first degree to shorten the timeline of earning the BSN while engaging in rigorous, hands-on training rooted in foundational nursing curriculum.
Our second-degree, accelerated pathway is built for applicants who hold a non-nursing bachelor’s (BA/BS) with a minimum 2.75 GPA. Unlike many programs, Joyce’s hybrid aBSN has no prerequisite science courses required, all general education and nursing foundations are integrated into the curriculum, so qualified students can start sooner.
We’ll evaluate your prior credits (up to 46 transferable hours) and guide you through compliance steps (background check, health clearances) to keep your fast-track on schedule.
Because this accelerated, hybrid program relies on limited clinical placements, seats fill quickly. Joyce uses rolling admissions with no long waitlist, so the best move is to apply early, lock in your next start date, and secure and lab/clinical sections.
An Admissions Advisor will help you fast-track transcripts and documents so you don’t lose momentum.
Pre-licensure nursing can’t be 100% online because nursing education requires hands-on training through simulated clinicals and direct-care clinicals. Joyce delivers a hybrid aBSN: online coursework for flexibility plus on-site skills labs, high-fidelity simulation, and in-person clinical rotations. You’ll train in our state-of-the-art Simulation Center to build real-world confidence then take your learnings to the field through supervised direct-care clinicals – an ideal blend of online convenience and hands-on learning for an accelerated path to RN.
Most students finish in about 20 months with 85 program credits and approximately 517.5 clinical hours completed through both simulated and direct-care clinical experiences. This accelerated, year-round program includes online coursework, simulation intensives, and 8- to 12-hour clinical shifts, for a balanced, hybrid design that sharpens clinical judgment and prepares you to sit for the NCLEX-RN soon after graduation.
The Accelerated BSN total program cost is based on 60 program credit hours. To learn more about tuition and fees for the accelerated BSN program, please visit our financial aid page.
