Your hands-on education includes exclusive access to our state-of-the-industry nursing facilities including our Joyce Johnson Center of Simulation. In our facilities you will train on high-fidelity robotic patient mannequins, life-like synthetic cadavers, and in realistic clinical environments so that you’re ready to hit the ground running upon graduation.
Our aBSN program includes a blended approach to learning. Blending online and on-campus coursework, students will learn nursing theory online while developing clinical skills at our on-campus simulation center. Our Accelerated BSN program is designed to get you on the hospital floor – or wherever you plan to practice nursing – as quickly and efficiently as your schedule allows. It is fast and intense, but you won’t be left alone to accomplish your goals. Our combination of lecture, laboratory, and in-person clinical experiences prepares graduates to pass the NCLEX – the majority on their first try. And because we want to make your financial and professional goals a reality as soon as possible, no previous nursing experience or prerequisites are required for qualifying applicants.
Applicants must submit proof of a non-nursing bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75. Once accepted, students typically attend on-campus or online instruction 2-3 days per week depending on the semester. You should expect to commit 40+ hour per week to your education to complete the following:
120 total credit hours – (60 hours of transfer credit from previous baccalaureate education and 60 credit hours of core courses)
517.5 required clinical hours
Joyce’s Accelerated BSN program is approximately 20 months with 517.5 required clinical hours. That means the distance between enrollment for your aBSN degree and applying for your first job can be as little as 20 months.
Joyce’s aBSN curriculum is designed to not only develop your clinical judgement skills – your exposure to evidence-based practice will enable you to become employable as an RN in a variety of specialized fields. In just 5 semesters, you’ll be able to sit for your boards and then enter the medical field with the competence to proficiently navigate healthcare technology, supplied with the resources for delivering lifesaving results.
Semester 1: Anatomy and Physiology for Nursing Practice, Pathophysiology for Nursing Practice, Introduction to Nursing and Evidence-Based Practice
Semester 2: Essentials of Nursing I: Understanding Nursing Practice, Pharmacological Principles, Statistics for Nursing Practice
Semester 3: Essentials of Nursing II: Care of Clients and Communities, Quality, Safety, and Technology in Nursing, Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
Semester 4: Care of the Adult Client, Care of the Childbearing Family
Semester 5: Care of the High Acuity Client, Transition to Nursing Practice and Leadership, NCLEX Testing Orientation
